Elizabeth (Liz) Afolabi

Liz Afolabi is the owner and founder of Anchor IP Law. She is a trademark and copyright lawyer, and registered trademark agent, with over 15 years of experience in intellectual property law gained from working with start-ups, small, medium and large corporations. She has enjoyed the honour and privilege of learning from her father, a retired senior partner and certified patent, trademark and copyright specialist. He taught her (almost) everything she knows.

In addition to her legal work, Liz is a part time faculty member at the University of Waterloo, where she teaches a master’s level accounting course on Business Technology Law.

Many moons ago, Liz was a recipient of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) Educational Foundation Prize for achieving the highest mark overall on the Canadian Trademark Agent Examination.

In her spare time, Liz enjoys dreaming of sailing adventures and spending time with her husband and four children. She’s also an avid runner, boxer, and cappuccino enthusiast.
